President Rouhani Lauds Iran Nuclear Conclusion’s Positive Int’l Impacts


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) recently concluded between Iran and six world powers has proved possibility of negotiated solution to world problems.

The JCPOA proved that dialogue can lead to the settlement of political problems, he said in a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in Tehran on Tuesday.

“This agreement carried the message of peace for all countries in the world and indicated that international agreements are still influential if they are fairly respected," he added.

As regards future of Iran nuclear deal, the Iranian president urged all parties to the nuclear conclusion to focus on the implementation of the 159-page document.

“The agreement will be very important and influential for the future of relations in the region, Europe and the world,” Rouhani stated.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 finalized the text of a lasting agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program.

Dubbed the JCPOA, the 159-page document has subjected Iran and the six other countries to comply with a series of commitments, resulting in the termination of sanctions on Iran in exchange for certain restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear program during a defined period of time.

Afterwards, the 15-memebr United Nations Security Council passed a resolution that endorsed the JCPOA.

Also at the meeting, the European diplomat said that she is confident that all the negotiating parties are firmly determined to implement the agreement, adding that the document was a step in favor of promoting peace.

Referring to the relations between Tehran and Brussels, Mogherini expressed the EU’s full preparedness to open a new chapter in its ties with Iran.
