Iraqi Forces Inflict Heavy Losses on ISIL Terrorists

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A large number of ISIL Takfiri (extremist) terrorists were killed in a number of operations by Iraqi troops and popular forces in different parts of the Arab country, official sources said.

Iraqi defense ministry announced in a Sunday statement that many terrorists were killed and a number of their armored vehicles were destroyed by Iraqi forces in different regions including al-Anbar, Tigris, and Baiji.

Al-Forat reported the statement as saying that the Iraqi army’s fighter jets managed to inflict heavy losses on the DAESH (ISIL) terrorist group in their massive offensive on the terrorists’ positions.

Witnesses said they have frequently seen ISIL militants burying in a cemetery in northern Baiji the bodies of their fellow terrorists killed in the battle with Iraqi popular forces.

They have also witnessed dozens of wounded ISIL members hospitalized during the past 48 hours. They say a hospital in Baiji is now full of wounded Takfiris, and this has weakened the group’s morale.

Since June 2014, Iraq has witnessed a fresh wave of violence after militants from the ISIL terrorist group took control of large swaths of the war-stricken country.
