Iran’s Basij Forces Hold Massive Maneuver in Capital


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Members of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) forces staged huge drills in the capital Tehran on Thursday.

More than 50,000 Basij members from 250 battalions took part in the massive maneuver, codenamed Power of Sarallah, which started at Tehran’s Velayat Park with a message from Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari.

A number of senior commanders and officials including IRGC Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi visited the site of the drills Thursday.

The exercises were aimed at enhancing Iran’s deterrence power and improving the forces’ preparedness.
