At a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Cambodia Hossein Behineh on Monday, Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong expressed his country's willingness for closer trade ties with Iran in various economic arenas, including oil and gas industry, Khmer Times reported.
Chum Sunry, a spokesman for Cambodia’s Foreign Ministry, said the MoU is expected to be inked next year and added, “The two countries will strengthen cooperation in all sectors for the benefit of the people of the two nations.”
For his part, Hossein Behineh expressed the hope that the MoU will be signed next year during Hor Namhong's visit to Tehran.
Following the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, European business executives and politicians are already shuttling to Iran to lay the groundwork for investment and trade.
The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
