USA beat Iran 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-22, and 25-21) on Thursday in Osaka, Japan.
The loss means that Iran is mathematically out of the running for a top two finish.
“They played great volleyball like in the entire tournament. We played well today as well. I hope the next four matches we can play like this,” Iran coach Slobodan Kovac told FIVB.org in the post-match news conference.
“We have had problems with our counterattack. We must try to change this and be better,” the Serbian coach added.
