Iranian Duo Win Silver, Bronze at World Taekwondo Grand Prix


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Abolfazl Yaghoubi and Omid Amidi from Iran claimed silver and bronze medal, respectively, in the 2015 WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series 3 on Friday.

In the finals of the men’s -68kg, Abolfazl Yaghoubi, who had earlier defeated taekwondo legend Servet Tazegul in an awesome golden-point match, was defeated against Korea’s Dae-hoon Lee 16-7.

Servet Tazegul of Turkey and Hun Kim of Korea won bronzes in the same weight division.

In the +80kg final, Dmitry Shokin of Uzbekistan defeated Rafael Castillo of Cuba and won the gold medal.

Arman-Marshall Silla of Belarus and Omid Amidi of Iran had to be satisfied with bronzes.

A total of 237 athletes from 56 countries are competing at the Manchester Regional Arena for top honors in the Manchester Grand Prix event, which will continue until October 18.
