Marziyeh Afkham on Monday offered Iran’s condolences to the governments and nations of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India on the quake casualties.

Expressing the hope that the death toll would remain at the lowest, Afkham also noted that Iran is ready to provide humanitarian and relief assistance for the quake-hit areas.

The spokeswoman also wished those injured a swift recovery.

More than 180 people have been killed in a 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck northeastern Afghanistan and Pakistan on Monday.

Tremors from the quake were also felt in northern India and Tajikistan.

The earthquake’s epicenter was in the mountainous Hindu Kush region, 76km (45 miles) south of Faizabad.
