IPC Athletics World Championships: Iran’s Pakbaz Claims Gold

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Saman Pakbaz claimed a gold medal in the men’s discus F12 of the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha on Saturday.

The Iranian discus thrower won the gold medal with a throw of 46.20 m.

Kim Lopez Gonzalez of Spain, had to make do with silver (44.93 m). Poland’s Marek Wietecki threw 44.76 m for bronze.

Iran wrapped up the competitions in Qatar with 13 medals (four gold, seven silver and two bronze medals).

Iran’s Mohammad Khalvandi (javelin F57), Mohsen Hosseinipanah (put F35) and Siamak Saleh Farajzadeh (shot put F34) claimed three gold medals respectively so far.

Sajad Mohammadian (shot put F42), Ali Mohammadyari (discus throw F56), Saman Pakbaz (shot put F12), Erfan Hosseini (javelin F13), Mohsen Kaedi (shot put F34), Peyman Nasiri Bazanjani (1,500 m T20) and Ali Olfatnia (long jump T37) won six silver medals.

Mohsen Kaedi (javelin F34) and Abdolrasol Mirshekari (javelin F46) have also claimed two bronze medals.
