Iran’s Might Blocking Hegemonic Powers’ Expansionist Goals: DM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan on Thursday highlighted the country’s defense power, saying it has foiled the plots hatched by hegemonic powers for the region.

Today, Iran has not only achieved a prominent position in regional security, but developed a power that prevents the hegemonic system from realizing its expansionist and invasive goals, Dehqan said in a meeting in Tehran.

He further elaborated on the ministry’s activities and measures within the past two years in different fields including the development of military power and enhancement of defense capabilities.

These have made the Iranian Armed Forces capable of acting decisively and rapidly in countering and defusing different types of threats at various levels, he added.

Back in October, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called on the Iranian armed forces to speed up their progress and boost their preparation to gain such power that enemies would not even think of attacking the country.

Imam Khamenei at that time described as “valuable” Iran’s current military achievements in different fields, but at the same time urged accelerated progress due to the “historical lags” in the country’s development.

“By accelerating their progress and boosting their preparedness, (Iran’s) Armed Forces should create such power that enemies would not even dare to think of any (anti-Iran) offensive,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
