Palestinian Envoy Raps UN Passivity over Anti-Israel Resolutions

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations (UN) called on the international community to stop biased policies in applying justice, stressing that lack of implementation of the UN resolutions on Israel has enabled Tel Aviv to continue behaving as a regime “above the law".

In a Monday meeting commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, to be observed on November 29, Riyad Mansour told the Palestinian Rights Committee that while the Day of Solidarity would come two months after the raising of Palestine’s flag at the UN Headquarters, resolutions adopted by the General Assembly, Security Council and other bodies still remained unfulfilled, the official website of the UN reported.

Israeli actions in and around East Jerusalem (al-Quds), including violations by settlers and extremists against Christian and Muslim holy places, risked turning the conflict from a political and legal one to a religious one with “disastrous consequences” for everyone, the permanent observer of the State of Palestine warned.

Also during the meeting, Vice-Chair of the Palestinian Rights Committee Desra Percaya underlined the significance of November 29 , and said, "History teaches us that when you have an unhappy neighbor, you are not safe."

He further called on the United Nations to resolve the question of Palestine in all aspects.

Back on November 29 in 1947, the United Nations General Assembly had adopted resolution 181, also known as "partition resolution", which mainly addresses Palestine's break up.
