Iran, Russia Sincere in Fighting Terrorism: Envoy

“The foreign policies of Iran and Russia conform to one another, and they are sincere in the fight against terrorism,” Sanaei told reporters in the western Iranian city of Hamedan on Tuesday.

He underlined that Tehran and Moscow are on the front line of combatting terrorism.

“Some countries have double standards on the battle against terrorism, but (the policies of) Iran and Russia are coordinated in this field,” the ambassador explained.

On Monday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Tehran’s determination to seriously fight against terrorist groups in the Middle East.

Rouhani said Tehran and Moscow will boost cooperation in the counter-terrorism campaign.

“Unlike those who are pretending to confront terrorism, Iran and Russia have demonstrated that they are serious about fighting against terrorism,” he noted.
