Iran’s Rouhani Calls for Global Consensus against Terrorism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday warned against the spread of terrorism and its adverse consequences in future, renewing the call for a global consensus on the campaign against terror.

Speaking in a meeting with visiting Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov here in Tehran, Rouhani referred to the “bitter and very dangerous” terrorist attacks that occurred within the past weeks, saying these incidents can be worrying for all regional states.

“Fighting against terrorism requires the resolve and determination of all countries, and in this fight, more attention should be paid to the roots of terrorism,” he stated.

If terrorism is ignored as a major danger, there would be no guarantee that stability and security are maintained in other parts of the region, the Iranian president noted, reaffirming his call for cooperation among all countries in dealing with regional issues.

Idrissov, for his part, highlighted Iran’s “key role” in settling regional and international issues and establishment of security, saying that Astana is willing to play a role in this field along with Tehran.
