Iran Handball Team Advances to Olympics Qualifier Final
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran will play the winner of Qatar and South Korea in the final match of the 2015 Asian Qualification Tournament on Friday.
On Wednesday, Iran defeated Bahrain 35-30 at the Duhail Handball Sports Hall in Doha in the semi-final round.
Irfan Smajlagic’s men opened the campaign with a 39-31 win over Oman.
Iran then defeated Uzbekistan 33-18, Japan 31-27 and Saudi Arabia 30-24, respectively.
Iran lost to host Qatar 32-17.
The gold medal winner in the competition will qualify for the Olympics.
The handball tournament at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will consist of twelve men and women teams each.
