Esteghlal Back on Iran Professional League Top
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Esteghlal of Tehran football team returned to the top of Iran Professional League (IPL) with a 1-1 draw against Saipa on Monday.
In the match held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Jaber Ansari was on target in the 62nd minute but Ali Zeynali equalized the match 20 minutes later.
Esteghlal returned to the top with 26 points over Esteghlal Khuzestan on goal difference.
Earlier in the day, Persepolis drew 1-1 with Naft Tehran in Tehran’s Takhti Stadium.
Milad Kamandani put Persepolis into the lead in the 40th minute.
Persepolis could extend the lead in the 69th minute after the referee awarded the team a penalty but Mehdi Taremi failed to convert it.
Moreover, Malavan lost to Tractor Sazi 1-0, Zob Aham defeated Padideh 3-1, and Esteghlal Ahvazi lost to Foolad 2-1.
