Cambodia Keen to Attract Iranian Investors

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Cambodia’s new envoy to Tehran expressed the Southeast Asian country’s enthusiasm for attracting foreign investment from Iran.

Cambodia would welcome presence of Iranian investors in different fields of economic and industrial activities, the country’s new accredited ambassador to Iran, Pichkhun Panha said on Monday.

He made the comments in a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to submit his credentials.

The incoming envoy also praised Iran for supporting Cambodia in international organizations.

For his part, President Rouhani expressed the hope that Iran’s private sector and economic activists would get acquainted with the investment opportunities available in Cambodia.

He also noted that Iran, as a major member of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), is eager to promote cooperation with East Asia, particularly with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Founded in 1967, the ASEAN is a political and economic organization of ten Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia.
