Iran’s Larijani: Unity Sole Way to Resolve Challenges Facing Muslims

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani expressed deep concern over problems facing Muslim countries, and said the promotion of unity and cooperation among nations is the only way through which the challenges can be resolved.

In separate messages sent to parliament speakers of Muslim countries on Saturday, Larijani congratulated his counterparts on the occasion of the Unity Week and the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), highlighting the importance of Muslims’ unity.

“Currently, the Islamic Ummah (community), more than ever, needs to return to the Prophet’s behavior, which is based on strengthening brotherhood and friendship and avoiding disputes and discord,” he noted.

The Iranian parliament speaker went on to say that countering the threats and challenges facing the Muslim nations is possible only through promoting unity and “strengthening moderate and rationalistic Islamic schools of thought”.

The Unity Week is annual occasion celebrated by Shiite and Sunni Muslims as a sign of solidarity among different Islamic schools of thought. The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) falls in the week.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also described unity as the only solution to the problems facing Muslims.

The Leader has repeatedly warned that the “arrogant powers” have created religious wars in the Islamic countries to divert attention from the fight against Israel.
