AFC U-23 Championship: Qatar 3-1 China
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Qatar defeated China 3-1 in its AFC U-23 Championship opening match on Tuesday.
In the match held at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Qatar, Liao Lisheng gave the Chinese team a lead in the 43rd minute.
Captain Abdelkarim Hassan scored twice in the 66th and 72nd minutes and Ahmed Alaa made it 3-1 in the 82nd minute.
Earlier in the day, Iran defeated Syria 2-0 thanks to two goals from Arsalan Motahhari and Mehrdad Mohammadi.
Qatar will face Iran on Friday.
A total of 16 teams are battling for the three places available for Asian sides in Rio in Qatar from January 12 to 30 at four venues.
