Syrian Troops Retake Key Town from Terrorists

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces, backed by military advisers and popular troops, managed to regain control of a strategic area in Latakia after striking heavy blows at the Takfiri terrorists operating in the Arab country.

The Syrian troops retook the town of Rabia, a major stronghold for foreign-backed Takfiri militants in the north of Latakia, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported on Sunday.

The Syrian soldiers also liberated al-Rawda village, about 60km northeastern countryside of Latakia, from the grip of the terrorists.

The report added that the forces discovered and defused dozens of explosive devices in the operation during which large number of the terrorists lost their lives.

Earlier, the Syrian troops freed the areas of Tefahiya, Hilwa al-Gharbiya, Hilwa al-Sharqiya, al-Amlik, Beit Arab, Beit Ablaq, and Tal Asholan in Latakia from the control of the terrorists.

The Syrian military has since mid-October recaptured several areas in the north of the country from the Takfiri groups.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.
