Japanese Economic Delegation to Visit Iran: Abe

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said an economic delegation from his country is planned to travel to Iran.

Speaking in a Friday meeting with Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia in Tokyo, Abe described Iran as a country of investment and economic opportunities.

He added that an economic delegation from Japan will visit Iran “probably next week”.

Abe also hailed the signing of a bilateral investment agreement between the two countries later on Friday.

Tayyebnia, for his part, called for expansion of economic relations between Tehran and Tokyo in the post-JCPOA era.

He was referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a nuclear agreement which was finalized by Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in July 2015 and came into force on January 16.

With the implementation of the agreement, all nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions were terminated.

Tayyebnia further highlighted Iran’s strategic position, natural resources, educated human resources, big domestic market and good infrastructures, as some of the country’s economic advantages, stressing that Iran has a unique status among Middle Eastern countries.
