Mahjoub, Mollaei to Represent Iran at Paris Grand Slam Judo

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two Iranian judokas Saeid Mollaei and Javad Mahjoub will represent Iran at Paris Grand Slam Judo.

Mollaei in -81kg and Mahjoub in -100kg will participate in the prestigious competition.

A total of 583 judokas – 370 men and 213 women – from 93 countries will compete in the tournament, which will last two days starting on February 6.

Only two countries have topped the Paris Grand Slam medal table since it was upgraded from Super World Cup status in 2009.

Japan has topped the table on five occasions with host France finishing in top spot in 2009 and 2013.

Last year Japan won four gold medals, one silver and five bronze while second-placed France secured three gold medals, two silver and three bronze.
