Iran’s Deputy Minister in Russia for Credit Line Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazaee is in the Russian capital of Moscow for negotiation over the details of contracts aimed at extending a line of credit.

Khazaei, who arrived in Russia on Saturday afternoon, is heading a delegation including legal, power, and railroad officials.

The delegation is planned to discuss with the Russian side the draft deal of the credit line for Iran’s Garmsar-Incheh Borun railroad project, and the thermal power plant of Bandar Abbas.

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei had earlier noted that Khazaei would sit down with Russia’s Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak to sign the contracts.

The negotiations between Iranian and Russian finance ministries will be focused on signing contracts on credit line extension, which Russia opens for the joint projects, he told reporters on Saturday.

In August 2015, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari said Tehran plans to launch credit lines in Russia in a bid to boost its commercial cooperation with Moscow.

"At first, the main thing is to sort out the interaction of the banking systems and open credit lines. This would create the necessary basis for the development of trade-economic cooperation between our countries," Sattari said at the time.
