Greece to Import 60,000 bpd of Iran’s Crude: Senior Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's deputy oil minister for international affairs and trade said Saturday Hellenic Petroleum, Greece's biggest oil refiner, will buy 60,000 barrels a day of crude oil from Iran.

According to a deal reached between Iran and Greece during the recent Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Tehran, Hellenic Petroleum will import 60,000 barrels a day of Iranian crude oil in the near future, Amir Hossein Zamaninia said as quoted by Shana news agency.

Tsipras arrived in the central Iranian city of Isfahan at the head of an economic delegation on February 7 as the first destination of his official trip. One day later, he travelled to Tehran for talks with high-ranking Iranian officials.

Noting that the oil refiner is in talks with Iran to settle its multi-million euro outstanding debt to the Islamic Republic, Zamaninia added the number will increase to 150,000 bpd soon.

Earlier today, the Iranian deputy oil minister said the country plans to scale up its oil production by 700,000 barrels per day soon in the future.

"One of the goals of Iran's sixth development plan is to produce 4,700,000 bpd of crude oil. To achieve that we need to increase our production by 700,000," Rokneddin Javadi, who is also the chief executive of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said.
