Chaos in Southern Yemen Result of Saudi Occupation: Ansarullah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement blamed occupying forces for the ongoing anarchy in the southern parts of Yemen, stressing that the Saudi-led aggression has emboldened such terrorist groups as Daesh and Al Qaeda.

The chaos witnessed in southern Yemen is a result of Saudi and Emirati occupation (of Yemen) that has been going on for seven months, Mohammad Abdul-Salam said in a post in his Facebook account on Sunday.

The recent brutal terrorist attack against a nursery proved that the aggressors and mercenaries are to blame for the crimes committed in the South, Abdul-Salam said.

The occupation has led to the spread of activities of such terrorist groups as Daesh (also known as ISIL) and Al Qaeda, he added.

Those calling themselves a government cannot even protect themselves, let alone provide security for the citizens, the spokesman noted.

He went on to say that Yemen can only be saved through political dialogue among Yemeni sides.

In recent months, Saudi-backed al-Qaeda and Daesh terrorists have stepped up attacks in Aden as part of Riyadh’s plan to undermine Houthi revolutionary forces.

In the latest terrorist atrocity, 16 people were killed Friday by gunmen who stormed a retirement home run by a charity established by Mother Teresa.

An official said the attackers were “extremists” and blamed Daesh for the attack.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The death toll from the Saudi-led war so far has reached more than 8000 people. More than half of the total population of Yemen, some 14.4 million people, are also food insecure due to ongoing conflict and import restrictions, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
