Iran Urges United Action against US Expansionism

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan called for concerted action by independent states and regional countries to counter the US expansionist policies.

“Independent countries and major regional powers should stand against the US infiltration and expansionism with unity and all-out cooperation,” the Iranian minister said at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Andrei Alekseyevich Ravkov.

The two generals met on the sidelines of the 2016 Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) in Russia on Thursday.

Dehqan also lashed out at Washington for instigating proxy wars to hold back emerging powers at the expense of the countries it has a control over.

He further noted that the Moscow security conference could send the US and its allies the message that “the world will not let them continue implementing such anti-human strategies.”

For his part, the Belarusian defense minister warned against the threat of expansion of NATO, saying the US moves do not bring about stability and security to the region, but fuel tensions and insecurity.

The fifth Moscow international security conference kicked off on Wednesday with a focus on fighting terrorism and expansion of international convergence and cooperation on confronting the threat.

Over 500 military and political figures, including 17 defense ministers and 14 deputy defense ministers from across the world are attending the conference.
