Iran, Spain after Closer Cultural Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and Spain at a meeting in Tehran weighed plans to boost cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister Abbas Salehi and Spanish Ambassador to Iran Eduardo López Busquets met in Tehran to explore avenues for the expansion of cultural relations between the two countries.

Hailing a comprehensive cultural agreement recently signed between Tehran and Madrid, the Iranian official called for programs to promote Persian language courses in Spain and Spanish language programs in Iran.

Salehi also highlighted the influence of literature and translation of Persian and Spanish books on bringing the two nations closer together.

For his part, the Spanish envoy said his country is going to hold an exhibition of the research studies carried out on Iran and its religions.

Busquets also hailed the large number of Spanish tourists visiting Iran every year.

Back in February, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for American and European Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi paid a visit to Madrid and held talks with a number of Spanish officials on ways to deepen bilateral ties in various political, economic and cultural areas.
