Lithuania Keen to Participate in Iran’s LNG Projects: Iranian Oil Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Amir Hossein Zamaninia said Lithuania has expressed willingness for investment in Iran’s Liquefied Natural Gas projects (LNG).

Lithuania is eager to participate in Iran’s LNG projects as well as its oil sector, Zamaninia said after a meeting with the Eastern European country’s Deputy Energy Minister Aleksandras Spruogis in Tehran on Sunday.

Heading a business delegation, the Lithuanian deputy energy minister arrived in Tehran on Friday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on oil and gas cooperation.

The European country has good experience in the field of LNG, the Iranian official said, adding that Tehran will weigh Lithuania’s offer.

Cooperation in the fields of shale oil and shale gas were also among other proposals put forward by Lithuania for cooperation with Iran, Zamaninia further said, Shana reported.

International interest in ties with Iran has been growing since Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 finalized a comprehensive nuclear deal and started implementing it on January 16.

The agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
