President: Iran Regaining Pre-Sanctions Economic Status

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed the atmosphere created after the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions back in January, saying that the country is gradually restoring its pre-sanctions economic situation.

“We are in such conditions today that you see (delegations from) companies and various countries are continuously visiting Iran,” President Rouhani said in a speech in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan on Monday.

He added that since the termination of the economic embargoes, foreign countries have been taking steps to invest in Iran.

Rouhani further emphasized that counties that had imposed the sanctions against Iran are now showing interest in establishing economic ties with the country.

“…Today, we are moving step by step toward the pre-sanctions situation,” he added.

The remarks come against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.

The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
