Iran, Poland Eye Close Economic Partnership
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo weighed plans to build up a strong economic partnership between Tehran and Warsaw and immediately implement the trade deals the two countries have already signed.
At a meeting in Warsaw on Monday, Zarif said Iran and Poland can tap into their huge economic potential to cooperate in a whole host of fields, as in nanotechnology, biotechnology and telecommunication.
The Iranian foreign minister also highlighted the suitable opportunities for the Polish companies to have access to a market of 400 million people in the region through Iran.
Zarif also stressed that resumption of banking ties, insurance services and investment activities will help the two countries to rapidly carry out the 500-million-dollar deals they signed on Monday on the sidelines of a joint economic conference in Warsaw.
For her part, Ms. Szydlo said Poland gives priority to safe sources of energy, employment of advanced technologies, and scientific cooperation.
She also expressed satisfaction with Foreign Minister Zarif’s trip to Poland with a delegation of Iranian businessmen, voicing Warsaw’s preparedness to promote cooperation with Tehran in all economic fields.
Zarif arrived in Poland on Sunday as part of a European tour, which takes him also to Finland, Sweden, and Latvia.
The top Iranian diplomat arrived in Helsinki on Monday evening.
