Spokesman Slams Saudi FM for Anti-Iran Remarks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi slammed Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir for his recent remarks against Tehran, saying that al-Jubeir is trying to divert public attention from the kingdom’s “endless scandals” by leveling “ridiculous” allegations against Iran.

“These days, Adel al-Jubeir is so busy trying to erase all traces of the involvement of his country’s leaders, authorities and organizations in various terrorist attacks over the past few decades,” Qassemi said on Friday.

The spokesman added that Jubeir thinks he can divert the world public attention from “the endless scandals of his country as the father of Al-Qaeda and Daesh (ISIL or ISIS)”.

It is understandable that the Saudi foreign minister had difficult days prior to the release of a secret report on the 9/11 attacks, Qassemi said, adding that still more difficult days are ahead for Jubeir.

He went on to say that the world’s public opinion, particularly those nations that fell victim to terrorism in the years after September 11, 2001, would certainly notice the importance of such report that reveals Saudi supports for terrorism.

The US government last week released 28 pages of a congressional report on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, which hints at the Saudi government’s involvement in the attacks.

During a recent speech about terrorism at the Egmont Research Center in Brussels, the Saudi foreign minister made some allegations against Iran, claiming that Tehran supports terrorism.
