Williams Jones Basketball Cup: Iran Beats Egypt
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran basketball team beat Egypt 74-65 at the 38th Williams Jones Cup on Tuesday.
Rouzbeh Arghavan collected 24 points and 9 rebounds for Iran in this match.
Iran will play South Korea on Wednesday.
Dirk Bauermann’s team started the event with a 73-61 win over Taiwan B on Saturday and beat Sacramento State 70-59 on Monday.
The competition started on July 23 at the Sinjhuang Gymasium in New Taipei City and will run until July 31.
The Iranian team is preparing for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge which is an international basketball tournament.
FIBA Asia will be hosted by Iran from September 9 to 18 in Tehran.
This tournament will serve as the first step in determining the process of the qualifiers for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which will feature teams from both FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania for the first time.
