At Least Three Dead after Shooting in Small Washington Town

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least three people are dead and one injured in a shooting overnight in Washington, officials said on Saturday.

One suspect is in custody after a shooter opened fire at a gathering of 15 to 20 people in the coastal town of Mukilteo, city officials confirmed on Twitter.

The alleged gunman was picked up in Lewis County, three counties south of the scene of the crime.

There was a large police presence in the wee hours of Saturday morning as worried families began arriving on scene in the Chennault neighborhood.

“Sad scene here as parents arrive not knowing the status of their child,” photographer Jack Reale tweeted from the scene, the New York Daily News reported.

Police quickly established a reunification center for parents and relatives at the local Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

The small town of Mukilteo sits on the bank of the Puget Sound. The Snohomish County suburb is 30 minutes from Seattle and has a population of just over 20,000.

The killings come on the heels of a slew of other gun-related tragedies across the US, including the Florida teen club shooting Monday that left two dead and 17 wounded.
