Iran’s Larijani Congratulates Lebanon on 10th Anniversary of Victory in 33-Day War

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani offered his congratulations to the Lebanese people and government and Hezbollah resistance movement on the anniversary of the Arab country’s historic victory in the 33-Day War of 2006 against the Israeli regime.

In a message to Hezbollah Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday, Larijani felicitated the 10th anniversary of “glorious and memorable victory” of the Lebanese nation in the 2006 war.

“The epical and historic victory, reached with the grace of God, your wise management and the braveries of the Islamic Resistance forces in Lebanon, is a golden page in the history of the Islamic Ummah (community) and an unforgettable lesson for the Israeli regime and its international supporters,” Larijani stressed.

He further expressed the hope that countries of the Axis of Resistance would achieve complete victory against Takfiri terrorists and their regional and global supporters.

In a separate message also on Saturday, Larijani congratulated his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri on the great victory.

The Tel Aviv regime launched a war on Lebanon in the summer of 2000. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed in the 33-Day War of 2006.

Hezbollah fighters defeated the Israeli forces and Tel Aviv was forced to retreat without achieving any of its objectives.

The conflict also known as the July War took place in Lebanon, north of Occupied Palestine and the Golan Heights.

It started in July 2006, and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006, though it formally ended on 8 September 2006 when Israel lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon.
