Terrorist Groups Employed as Stooges to Undermine Iran’s Security: Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The intelligence agencies of adversaries are using puppet terrorist groups like Daesh (ISIL) or al-Nusra Front to damage security in Iran, the country’s intelligence minister said.

Iran is not concerned about the threat of terrorist groups such as Daesh, Mahmoud Alawi said on Thursday, adding that such groups are used as puppets to disturb Iran’s security.

There are clues to cooperation among the espionage services of the enemies, including those of the US, Britain and Israel, as well as their assistant, namely Saudi intelligence service, he added.

Pointing to occasional moves by the terrorist groups in the country’s southeastern border areas, Alawi said the enemies are trying to challenge security in Iran through tactics like formation of 10-strong cells for anti-Iran operations and spending $500,000 for every operation.

Back in June, the intelligence minister previously underlined that “full and exemplary security” prevails across the country and along the borders despite the fact that security problems mainly occur along countries’ borders.

“If someone makes a wrong move, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s forces will immediately put them in their place,” Alawi said at the time.
