Bangladeshi Tourism Minister Calls for Direct Flights between Tehran, Dhaka

TABRIZ (Tasnim) – Bangladeshi Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Rashed Khan Menon urged called for launching direct flights between Iran and the South Asian country.

Iran-Bangladesh direct flights should be launched and the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka is also seriously pursuing the issue, Menon said in a meeting with Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Masoud Soltanifar in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz on Monday evening.

The Bangladeshi minister further said his visit to Tabriz can help promote ties between the two countries in all spheres.

He also hailed the decision to elect Tabriz as the tourism capital of Islamic countries in 2018, saying that Iran and Bangladesh can boost cooperation to increase the number of Bangladeshi tourists visiting Tabriz.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the first edition of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting on Tourism opened in Tabriz on Monday.

The two-day meeting was initiated by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the 14th ACD Ministerial Meeting, which was held earlier in March in Bangkok.

Ministers and high-ranking officials from about 20 member states of the ACD have convened in Tabriz’s Kaya Laleh Park Hotel to discuss ways to promote the tourism industry across Asia.
