Turkish Warplanes Pound 10 PKK Targets Overnight

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkish warplanes hit 10 PKK targets in Turkey's southeastern and eastern provinces overnight, security sources said on Sunday.

Four PKK targets were hit by Turkish fighter jets in the Cukurca district of southeastern Hakkari province said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Six more militant positions were bombed in the Mount Tendurek region between the eastern Agri and Van provinces, the sources added, Anadolu Agency reported.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year, following the collapse of a 2-1/2-year ceasefire between the Turkish government and the autonomy-seeking group.

Turkey's southeast has been rocked by waves of violence since then, with Turkish security forces being targeted in attacks.
