Belgian Parliamentary Delegation Due in Tehran This Weekend

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Belgian House of Representatives will pay an official visit to Tehran this weekend for talks on bilateral ties.

Heading a high-ranking parliamentary delegation, the senior Belgian official will arrive in the Iranian capital on October 1.

He will travel to Iran at the official invitation of Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

During the 5-day visit, members of the Belgian delegation will hold talks with Boroujerdi and other senior Iranian officials.

Iran’s parliament has in recent months intensified measures to strengthen ties with parliaments of the other countries after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.

The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
