Iranian Youth Lifters Head to Malaysia for World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Eight Iranian weightlifters traveled to Malaysia on Monday to take part at the 2016 Youth World Championships.

Iran has sent a full squad of eight men to the event.

The competition will be held in Penang, Malaysia from October 19 to 25.

For just under a week, the best weightlifters in the world, aged 13 – 17, will battle it out for a world championship.

The team will be headed by Hossein Barkhah in the prestigious event.

The Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) will host the 2016 Commonwealth Senior, Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships and 2016 IWF Youth World Weightlifting Championships at the SPICE Arena in Penang.

According to MWF, 300 weightlifters from 82 countries will be participating in the competitions.
