Iran Congratulates Turkmenistan’s Independence Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his Turkmen counterpart congratulated the people of Turkmenistan on the 25th anniversary of the nation’s independence from the Soviet Union.

In a Thursday message to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President Rouhani expressed confidence that the amicable relations between Tehran and Ashgabat will expand in light of serious efforts by the two countries’ officials.

Independence Day of Turkmenistan is the main state holiday in the Central Asian country that is celebrated annually on October 27.

Iran and its northeastern neighbor are determined to enhance ties and boost the value of bilateral trade to $60bln in a 10-year period.

In March 2015, the two countries signed 17 cooperation documents in economic, cultural, political, legal, scientific, and technological fields during a visit to Ashgabat by President Rouhani.
