Iran Summons Danish Envoy Over Embassy Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned Denmark’s ambassador to Tehran over an attack on the Iranian embassy in Copenhagen.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Thursday that the Danish ambassador has been summoned to the ministry to voice protest at an attack earlier in the day on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Copenhagen by “four anti-revolutionary elements.”

The Danish envoy was notified of Iran’s strong protest at the incident, which is in violation of all international norms, and at the Danish government’s “weak performance in ensuring the security” of the Iranian embassy building and its personnel, the spokesman added.

Iran has called on Denmark to take “responsible and serious” action against perpetrators of the attack, Qassemi noted.

He went on to say that the Danish envoy has slammed the incident as “unacceptable” and pledged to relay Iran’s protest to his government as soon as possible and report back to Tehran.
