Syria Army Inflicts Losses on Terrorists in Daraa, Homs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains in their fight against Takfiri terrorists in the provinces of Daraa and Homs, inflicting heavy losses on them in personnel and equipment.

World

On Tuesday, Syrian forces pounded the positions of the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) terrorist group with mortar rounds in the areas of Khazan al-Karak, al-Masri, and Daraa al-Balad in the southwestern province of Daraa, killing and injuring a large group of them, SANA news agency reported.

A number of their vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns were also destroyed in the raids.

In a separate development, the army troops foiled a multi-pronged operation by Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in the central province of Homs after they attempted to sneak into the areas of Futhat al-Mahsa, Thanyiat al-Mzaibleh and al-Qaryatain.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
