DM Describes IRGC Missile Raid as Tiny Part of Iran’s Reaction to Terror

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Sunday missile attack the IRGC carried out against the positions of terrorists in Syria was only a small part of Iran’s response to the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group and its sponsors, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said.

In comments on Tuesday, Brigadier General Dehqan lauded the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ move to fire mid-range missiles targeting at key positions of Daesh inside Syria.

Denouncing as “blind and despicable” the recent terrorist attack by Daesh in Tehran, the minister said the IRGC missile strike was only a small part of Iran’s reaction to the notorious group and its sponsors.

He also underscored that Iran’s defense power is serving regional peace, stability and security, and is used for the fight against destabilizing factors, such as Takfiri terrorist groups.

On Sunday night, the IRGC fired six high-precision missiles at positions of the Daesh terrorist group in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor.

The missile attack, launched from west of Iran, was in retaliation for a recent terrorist attack in Tehran claimed by Daesh.

According to reports, all six missiles have hit the targets, wreaking destruction on Daesh sites and killing dozens of terrorists.
