IPL: Persepolis Held by Siahjamegan at Azadi


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran Professional League (IPL) leader Persepolis was held to a 1-1 draw by Siahjamegan on Wednesday.

In the match held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Farshad Ahmadzadeh gave Persepolis football team the lead just after six minutes.

The Reds created several chances but wasted their opportunities.

With six minute remaining, Amir Mohammad Panahi equalized the match on the counter attack.

“We could have won the match but our players missed their chances. That’s football,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the post-match news conference.

Persepolis remains top of the IPL with 10 points from four games.

On Thursday, Tractor Sazi will host Naft Tehran, Zob Ahan face Sepahan in Isfahan derby, Pars Jonoubi Jam meet Sanat Naft and Saipa play Esteghlal.
