IRGC Working on New Attack Helicopter

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A homegrown attack helicopter designed by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force is going through the manufacturing process, a top commander said.

The IRGC Aerospace Force is still working on the 2-seat attack helicopter designed by its experts, commander of the force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh told Tasnim on Tuesday.

More information about the aircraft will be made public as soon as the manufacturing process is over, he added.

The IRGC first unveiled plans for manufacturing the homegrown attack helicopter in September 2014, saying the aircraft would be larger and heavier than the other choppers it had made before.

The IRGC has made major advances in the aviation industry in recent years by developing a broad range of drones and helicopters.

In October 2016, General Hajizadeh said Iran is among the top four countries in the world in the drone industry.

He also said that the US is seeking to equal Iran in the production of stealth UAVs and bombers.
