Iranian Spokesman Calls Saudi Crown Prince ‘Liar, Delusional’

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi hit back at Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman for his recent allegations against the Islamic Republic, decrying him as “a delusional person…, who tells nothing but lies”.

In a statement released late on Thursday, Bahram Qassemi deplored Bin Salman’s recent comments against Iran, saying, “His remarks do not merit a response, because he is a delusional person with an immature mind, who tells nothing but lies… and regards politics as only making untimely harsh remarks without prudence.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran shows respect for all its neighbors and various countries and nations around the world regardless of their area, military and economic power, and even their credit inside and outside their borders, and has always thought about having a powerful, secure and stable region instead of simply a powerful country,” he added.

Therefore, Iran’s tolerance and moves to call on all regional countries, especially “some ill-wishers and obstinate enemies”, to hold dialogue has their roots in its rationality and prudence that emanate from its experience, culture and old civilization, the spokesman noted.

In an interview with the CBS news channel which is set to air on this Sunday’s “60 Minutes”, bin Salman said Saudi Arabia would take quick steps to develop nuclear bombs if Iran does so.

The Saudi crown prince also compared Iran’s foreign policy to that of Hitler’s.
