Iran Sitting Volleyball to Start Super 6 with Match against Russia


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national sitting volleyball team will start the Super 6 with a match against Russia on Thursday.

Six of the world’s best male sitting volleyball national teams will face-off at the Super 6 from April 19 to 24 in Tabriz, Iran.

This will be the second edition of the international competition, which only included women’s teams last year and saw Russia taking gold in Hangzhou, China.

The event will feature Paralympic gold medalist Iran, reigning world champion Bosnia and Herzegovina, world No.6 Germany, No.9 Russia, No.5 Ukraine and No.8 USA.

Competition will be contested in a round-robin format, with all six teams facing each other once and the overall best two qualifying for the final on 24 April. The third and fourth will play for the bronze, Paralympic.org reported.

The Super 6 will kick off on April 19 with the game between Germany and Ukraine, followed by Bosnia & Herzegovina vs. USA and Iran vs. Russia.
