Omani Airline Launches Direct Flight to Iranian Capital


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Omani airline Salamair inaugurated a direct flight to the Iranian capital of Tehran on Sunday as part of efforts to boost bilateral relations between the two Muslim countries.

The direct flight between Muscat and Tehran was launched during a ceremony in the Omani capital attended by senior officials of the two countries, including Iranian Ambassador to Muscat Mohammad Reza Nouri Shahroudi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nouri Shahroudi said the launch of the direct flight in the current situation is a sign of the depth of friendship between Iran and Oman.

According to the report, the airline is slated to operate flights between Muscat and Tehran three times a week on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Speaking to Times of Oman ahead of the inaugural flight, Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of Salamair said that he is extremely happy to be starting another destination.

“We are extremely happy and excited about adding another destination to our network,” he said, adding, “Today, we are flying to Tehran, the capital of Iran, which is a very popular destination, and this is our second destination in Iran as we have been flying to Shiraz and it has been extremely successful.”
