Iran’s Zahra Kiani Snatches Bronze at World Wushu C’ships


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Taolu practitioner Zahra Kiani won a bronze medal at the 15th edition of the World Wushu Championships on Tuesday.

Kiani claimed the bronze medal at the Women's Changquan with 9.643 points.

China’s Meng Jiao Guo seized a gold medal with 9.696 and Yi Li from Macau won a silver with 9.646 points.

Iranian wushu practitioners have already claimed four goal medals and one silver in the competition.

Maryam Hashemi, Shahrbano Mansouriyan and Elaheh Mansouriyan won three gold medals in Sanda events.

Mansouriyan defeated Brazilian Raine Cristina De Oliveira Martins in the women's 70kg final bout.

In the women’s 75kg, Maryam Hashemi defeated Indian athlete Poonam and won a gold medal.

And Elaheh Mansouriyan seized a gold after defeating Ece Çakır from Turkey in the final match of the women's 65kg category.

Talolu practitioner Mohammad Ali Mojiri also won a gold medal in the nandao discipline.

And Hanieh Rajabi claimed a silver in the nandao discipline.

The competitions are being held in Shanghai, China from October 17 to 23.

Players from 102 countries and regions have participated in the competition, the most high-level contest within the Wushu sport.

Host China sits top of the table with seven gold medals and one bronze, followed by Iran with four golds, one silver and one bronze.
