Zarif Raps US’ Contempt for Peace

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif denounced his outgoing American counterpart’s “warmongering lies” against Tehran as blatant contempt for peace.

“The damage Trump regime has done to humankind is not enough for its extremists,” Zarif said in a post on his Twitter account on Friday.

“In its last disgraceful days, designating Houthis to worsen humanitarian nightmare & warmongering lies against Iran by Pompeo show utter contempt for peace,” the Iranian foreign minister added.

“The planet will be better off without them,” Zarif said of termination of Donald Trump’s tenure as US president.

In comments on Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the tenure of his US counterpart has ended with humiliation and scandals, while the Iranian nation has defeated the White House’s policy of maximum pressure and economic war.

Praising the Iranian people for their patience and resistance against Trump as the “big terrorist of history”, Rouhani said the US administration ended up with humiliation.
