10 Individuals Indicted in Ukrainian Plane Crash Case: Former Prosecutor

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An indictment has been issued against 10 officials involved in the fatal crash of a Ukrainian passenger plane near Tehran last year, a former Iranian military prosecutor said Tuesday.

"The indictment of the case of the Ukrainian plane was issued. A serious and accurate investigation was carried out and indictments were issued for 10 people who were at fault,” Mizan quoted Tehran’s now-former military prosecutor Gholamabbas Torki as saying, during the introductory ceremony of Nasser Seraj as the new military prosecutor of Tehran province on Tuesday.

A Kiev-bound UIA Boeing 737 crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran on January 8, killing all 176 people on board, mostly Iranian and Canadian citizens.

Iran said the plane was hit by an anti-aircraft missile due to human error.
