In a statement on Thursday, Saeed Khatibzadeh deplored the continuation of the vicious circle of spreading anti-Iran allegations and the Arab League's tenacity in maintaining such a strategy.
Khatibzadeh said that such useless measures run counter to the other side's recent moves to communicate and engage in regional diplomacy with the Islamic Republic.
He refuted the "repeated and false" charges of Iranian meddling in other nations' internal affairs brought by states that have a "long history of fostering tensions and warmongering," particularly in Yemen and other parts of West Asia and North Africa.
Such "hackneyed statements" are an impediment to building ties between Iran and its neighbors, according to the spokesman, who reiterated Iran's long-held position that misunderstandings between neighbors must be resolved through diplomatic channels. In this regard, he asked neighboring countries to engage in dialogue.
Khatibzadeh also dismissed the Arab League's territorial claims to three southern Iranian islands, saying that Iran has always operated in accordance with its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that any foreign meddling in this area is unacceptable.
The preservation of Iran's nuclear achievements and defense capabilities, according to the Iranian diplomat, is one of the country's strategic priorities, and such declarations will never have an impact on the country's nuclear energy program.
